Clash

We unfortunately did not have a Rosary Group meeting on the 5th of April 2008 because there was a function in the main chapel. And I didn't attend last week because I was at a conference. I'll get someone to write a bit about that night sometime soon :)

Discovery / Personalised Night

This week was really personalised. The meeting started a bit late and we ended up finishing quiet late too :) something like 9:00pm hehehhe. But we had fun.

Today we got out of the norm and thought of trying something different. Cause when I got there. There was only Homer and Me (Jason). So we just waited around for somepeople to turn up. No one did but we still waited :) hehehe... But we didn't waste time while we waited. We looked through the cupboard to find things that we could potentially use in the future for our Rosary meetings or any meeting basically :)....
To our suprise we found more prayer books hehehe.... Prayer books that we otherwise ignored cause we dont usually have much time to go through the cupboard. Or there are too many people around and it just doesnt feel right. Anyway.. We found a prayer book that actually had all the prayers that we prayed at the Rosary...
Usually and when I say usually I mean a few years now... We've been doing the Rosary and have always left new members confused as to which page we are on the book... But this new book we found actually had the prayers such as "MEMORARE" that we were missing in the past.. The old book did not have this prayers... also we were missing the "Prayer to St Michael.. Which to our suprise this new book has .... With the help of this book we should not be having much problems.... We only need to divise a sheet that would help us intergrate the two books together while we pray :)......
Homer has been courtious and said that he'd either divise a sheet or he would actually go through the trouble of typing the entire Rosary manually for us .... and he would just create a single sheet for us with all the decades in them for our convienence and to avoid confusion.... Thank you Homer for doing that.....
Another thing that we did differently this week was that we actually prayed the Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary... There are basically five different mysteries in the rosary. We are supposed to pray the Sorrowful every Friday but we've been praying that one too many times already so we thought of having something different this night.... We personalised our prayers this week for our CLP participants and also to include our past members and current members.... I personally missed our past members alot last night.... Just a vivid flash back...

NEXT

We had our Bible discussion group.... This week we didnt really do any bible discussion... infact we just stayed around to think how we could improve our current meeting... a little group development activity by me and Homer hehehehe..... We've been having these development brain stomers for years now with little or no results... I guess we kind of just forget about all the ideas that we had come up with.... Would be a good idea to have a centeralised point were notes can be maintained about past discussions... so that the next stage which is planning and implementation can be reached to.... And then there is the evaluation stage hehehe..... All coming out straight from my Marketing Strategy text book lol....
Moving on we actually throught of looking through the question box that our sister Natalia had designed for us... Just after going through some of the questions I once again had a flash back of all those meeting that we had... We simply forgot to get the answers to any of those questions...
Moving along... Thats life for us new things come up and we forget about old things... I now realise that maybe those questions might have been really important to some of the people who had asked them in the first place... Maybe we should get the answers to those questions... And as my friend Homer suggested we might be able to have them on our newsletter or even our Catholics on Campus website... We can only then hope that the person who had orignally asked them may find the answer though either one of these sources...
Oh and then we suddenly had Lin turn up from no where hehehe... Me and Homer had just stood up and were about to pack the Bibles and Prayer books to head to my place to work on his Christian Life Program talk for tomorrow and to test the sutiability of my laptop to actually see if his powerpoint presentation works out... But we actually could not get to that.... Because I somehow dominated the meeting and poured my heart out.... I started talking about old times in the group and just when I was back home this summer (my internship and how fruitful it is now even though it didnt seem so back then) and career and how much I'm confused and lost and have no idea where I'm heading and the delimas in my life .... I realised that I'm somewhat similar to everyone else... its just that I have not been spending alot of time thinking about solutions to all these problems... as these problems have very simple solutions.... glad that I have friends like Homer and Lin to lift me up when I was feeling kind of down yesterday....

With this I come to the end of my post for this week... I need to be heading off to the CLP program and next I need to be doing my assignment cause I dont want to let my group mates down.... I'm a little afraid cause I'm not sure about what I'm doing but I'm sure God will help me out... He always does :-)

St.Dominic's story by Stephen

Never thought we would be doing this .... But today we post the very first entry for this blog. It's wonderful how this group is growing both spiritually and in numbers. Last Friday we had our usual Rosary first and after that we had our Bible Sharing & Reflection. Things are getting so intresting and every week we learn a little bit at a time. It's all very exciting.

We usually have a lot of questions and ideas after reading the Gospel. And in the past many of them went unanswered at times (or we just forgot about them). Our group finally found a solution collectively. And thanks to Natalia. One of our really old members. Not old in age I meant. Old as in she's been with us from a long time. We have a question box Yeee-Yip-Pee!!! So from now on every week we will pop our questions, concerns or confusions about our faith or anything that we are not comfortable with in there. Our Spiritual Director Father Peter then will get back to us about them. The best thing about this box apart from it being really cute is that you don't need to leave a name with your question (I'm breathing a shy of relief.)

This week Stephen informed us about St.Dominic also known as Domingo de Guzmán. Some of us were happy to know that we are not the only ones in this world who have a schedule which consists of rushing with everything. Even though we heard about St.Dominic quite a bit. We never knew that he was always rushing. Thanks Stephen for taking so much time to prepare that.

We have been doing pretty well these past few weeks. We start and finish on time thats an achievement for us Yeee!!! After Stephen finished his story we started to head back home. For some reason all of us have a short chat in the corridor outside G11. It's not really an activity of the night. But it just happens automatically hehe.

I think we spent like 10 minutes talking in the corridor and then started to head out for dinner. Around 10 or 11 of us went out for dinner that night. That was nice :)

And then the very next next day (Saturday) some of us meet again to play badminton at the Monash Sports Center. We played for two hours till the very last minute (don't look at me that way students learn to make the best of everything specially if they pay for it hehehe). And because everyone was playing only for a short while and then taking a break to have a quick chat and a getting breath back moment. It turned out really well. It was like social sports hehehe. And the best part is that it didn't cost us much at all because we shared the cost.

To sum up this week with the Friday Night Rosary group was really exciting. We had our usual prayer group time and soon after that Stephen told us a summarized story about St. Dominic. Soon after that we went for dinner. And the next day we met up for badminton. In this coming week we will be listening about a letter from the Pope.
